3. Add your business description

Last month, Google tweeted that you can add a business description to your GMB listing. The description can now be found in the local knowledge panel or in the Google Maps results.

This feature was a long time coming, but now it is fully rolled out and available for use.

To add your business description to your GMB, click on the “Info” button of the menu bar. From there, you’ll see the new section “Add business description.” Next to that field will appear a pencil icon. Click on the pencil to enter a short business description.

Adding your business description to your GMB listing can help you in the long run because it will give potential clients a more accurate idea of what your business offers. There may be images associated with your Google listing, but sometimes they don’t tell the story they need to.

4. Advanced updates

If you’ve been working with Google My Business for a while and you’re comfortable navigating it, there are some more advanced things you can do to take it to the next level.

Consider selecting a different picture or logo that focuses on making your listing stand out.
Look at the popular times of the day and use paid social or AdWords to bring more visitors in.
Encourage your local customers to leave reviews and social media check-ins so others can see your business consistently.
